This is not how it works.
New ranges do not come with cords installed. You have to put one on.
You install the appropriate cord on the range to match the receptacle on the wall. NOT the other way around.
Many older range circuits are wired with SEU cable and you CANNOT have a 4-wire receptacle on SEU cable.
IF the old circuit is wired with four wires, including an equipment ground, then you can install a 4-wire receptacle and cord on the range.
