The problem is that the pump rated gpm is w/ 1-1/4 pipe; 1" pipe will be 1/2 of rated output, and 3/4" will be 1/2 of that, so 3/4" is a 75% restriction on gpm. You are NOT worried about pressure, you WANT high GPM, to keep up with the unplanned. Pump may not keep up with inflow, w/ 75% restriction
