[DIY] How to determine the BTUs on a propane cooktop

Bought a gas downdraft cooktop, very good reviews, and it came with the propane conversion.  Cost over $300 to get the conversion installed.   Problem is it takes forever to cook anything, even on the Pot Boiler burner.   I've read this could be a problem with how it was installed or how much flow of propane is getting through — but how do you check the actual amount of BTUs coming through and/or who does it?   We've had propane downdraft cooktops before and never had this problem.
