[DIY] Oversize doors

We got a great deal on some doors at Habitat, to fit the opening between house and barn/shop.  They are 8' tall and very good condition, beautiful hardware - but are just the doors.  Our opening is 6' wide and 10' tall.  Our plan is to install the doors then add a window at the top.

Most information I can find online is for pre-hung doors.  Anyone got some tips or know a website that gives more info? We have double 2x4's at each side of the opening, in case we needed more width. These doors are 36" so wondering if we could we simply add a header to fit and install the hinges much as if it was pre-hung.   As you know we planned on sliding barn doors, but once we are living here it makes more sense to install regular doors to make it more secure and keep the ac/heat in.

Thanks
