You need a whole house water softener. It exchanges the calcium for sodium (salt). No simple filter will solve the problem as far as I know. I have heard of some type of electreomagnet device, but a softener is the tried and true. Some people do not like the soapy feal of soft water, however. I also suggest keeping the kitchen cold water off the system for drinking purposes (or drink bottled water).
