As you may have already read in your research, you need to buy air tight IC cans such as Halo H7ICAT or H7RICAT for remodel type.
Of course, other diameter sizes or low voltage is OK, too.
You will be limited to 75 watt bulbs in the 6" can. I use 75BR30 halogen. Place them about 1 foot beyond the base cabinet edge (from the wall). Do not put 1 row down the center of the room or you will get shadows no matter where you stand when working at the counter.
