Hi, I don't know where you all live but in Kansas if you harm or kill a possum or any other critter it's a federal offense. Animal Cruelty laws. If the skunks or raccoons are out in the daytime they are rabid! Possum do not carry rabies. You need to call Animal Control or the Police so no one gets bit by the critters! As far as killing them, not a good idea unless you want to go to jail. Like I said, Animal Cruelty laws. They are just looking for ANYTHING to eat! Drought has been rough for all living creatures. Like I read in her latest post (after this one) she said she will leave it alone, for now. They won't hurt you unless you try to hurt them. I live in the city myself and feed the feral and stray cats so I'm use to the possum, skunks, raccoons coming around to eat. I do try to keep the food picked up after the cats have eaten just so I don't encourage the critters. I don't want them around either, but they are God's creatures and we must learn to live with them. Like I said, if you see any skunks or raccoons in the daytime they are rabid and you need to call Animal Control or the Police so they can take care of the problem for everyone's sake. Possum do not carry rabies, but if there are a lot of them and they become a nuisance and tear up things Animal Control can trap them and relocate them. The general public are not allowed to trap and relocate any animal, at least not in Kansas. Illegal. Just an FYI. Good luck and God bless all God's creatures!

One of our daughters recently bought a house in the country and I do believe she will have a small brass mine out by the fire pit before long. They buy shells like we did (by the 500 round brick) and when the weather is warm will with their friends go through a couple of bricks in a weekend. We have a Remington Nylon 22 in the attic which is presently buried somewhere under the plastic that was used to cover everything when the old wood shingles were torn off, but it is in the plans to clean that mess up and perhaps it will surface. I owned a Winchester 74 back in the 50's and that was a sweet little rifle, but I'm sure it must have been a smooth bore after the many thousands of rounds I put through it.
