I just re-read your post and reminded me I used to insert a steel rod through the base up inside of a leg to hold sculptures upright. Same principle newer lamps use.
The cord is going to have to be cut off and I need to get the bottom rim pulled down into position so it will stand upright, and the opening for the cord is in alignment. Then find a short piece of tubing that would fit around the two jagged ends and sit between the bottom of the rim and the top of the base ; it's just about an inch long. There is also an opening in the top of the cast iron base about an inch deep - I could epoxy a narrow rod into the base then slide it into the hollow tube a few inches, alongside the cord. This would give more support since the two edges are way too jagged to fit together smoothly. I use Aves Apoxie for about everything and it should work fine on this.
Thanks for mentioning this idea!

You could have the tube straightened and if you know someone with a lathe they could machine a tube that will bridge the break that could then be epoxied into place or soldered.
