RE: [DIY] Generator to fridge connection

 

Another thing to consoder: is the generator powerful enough to do that.  I almost bought a generator to run the fridge and then the guy told me it couldn't handle the load.  It wasn't the volts that was lacking, but the amps.  It was designed to be used for emergency lighting only - I'd rather have a fridge working than lighting.

This is not a DIY project.  You install the transfer switch between the metwer and the panel main as well as feed into the transfer switch with the generator.  Go to EBAY and you will see one ,often made by reliant, that is a small panel with 2 breakers.  You feed each breaker with one of the power sources (gen. or utility) and the output goes to the house panel.  Only 1 of the 2 breakers can be turned on at one time.
