[DIY] Re: Running Electricity to shed

Hi, Garry.   I think you need to check the Electrical Code for your location.  Required cover (trench depth & type of fill) vary depending on the surface use between the garage and shed.
Where I am, that two foot trench would be not quite deep enough for light foot traffic - need 2" sand, then direct burial cable or conduit with proper conductors, 2" sand above conduit/cable, cover board, then 2' to surface.  Need trace tape half way between cover board & surface.   Note, this is for where I am - your jurisdiction may vary, and codes change over time.

While putting direct burial cable in conduit sounds good, some jurisdictions do not allow multiconductor cable in conduit.  Another reason to check local code.

Lastly, some jurisdictions allow a homeowner to get a permit, provided they do the work themselves.   Permits and inspections protect you from your insurance company.
