I'm building some shelves in a closet. They are 72" long, and 12" deep and 3/4" thick. Made of particle board. The shelves will rest on 1/2" ledge on the back wall and each end wall. I intend to use the shelves for storing art supplies and magazines. What I would like to know if how much weight these shelves might support before requiring additional bracing. I could add angle supports, but would rather not, as it would (1) look unattractive to me and (2) interfere with placement of items on the shelf below. Can anyone give a reliable estimate as to how much weight I can safely load to each shelf without causing it to bough?
thanks,
Deborah
