You are right. But, I didn't have a heat gun. If I had been doing a lot stripping on a regular basis, I would have bought one.
I, also, learned to use the torch to remove window putty. Trick is to keep the hear moving over a large area, so the glass doesn't get hot in one spot, which will crack the glass.
