Pella is a good brand. The problem I can see with your plan, though it isn't a big hit on the pocketbook, is that there is always a possibility that the style you get might become obsolete. So you would end up with one type on one side and another on another side. If you don't get a change while you're in the middle of one side. You can at least talk to the Lowe's people about the type of window treatments to block the UV light.
You might also talk to "Next Door" who is on Theta Parkway behind Krogers on Nashville Highway. They have good quality and inexpensive windows. I've gotten good quality doors and windows from them at resonable prices.

What brand of windows do you prefer?
I am planning to start looking into double hung windows. Would like to replace one each year.

I will be replacing a couple on the south side of the house and I prefer not to have something that will not let the heat of the sun in. In the summer I can hang a sheer to cut the heat but in the winter I really want that natural heat to come through.
