As a test only, I would get a heavy duty extension cord and try plugging the AC in on a different circuit to see what happens. However, you said that when you did get it to run for a while, it stayed at 70 and none of the buttons would work. That indicates some internal problem with the unit. It's possible that you could have 2 problems, a bad breaker and something wrong inside the unit. Good luck, Ed
