[DIY] Dryer Vent Problem

Hello everyone,

I have a small problem with the hose that connects my dryer vent to the hole in the wall. I'm using one of those cheap flexible hoses that look like a slinky covered in aluminum foil. The problem is that the hole in the wall is about an inch higher than the hole in the dryer. When I push the dryer toward the wall, instead of compacting to a nice even circle, the hose gets a kink in it and the opening is partially obstructed. This , I think, is what is making my dryer less efficient than it should be. Add to this the fact that the dryer likes to walk around a bit while it's tumbling. The constant shoving it back in place causes further kinks, and pretty soon it's taking 2 hours to dry a load of laundry.

I'm hoping someone will recommend a different type of hose to use. Something that will hold its shape better, but still stretch out enough that I can move the dryer around without have to disconnect it. The space it is in is very tight. I had to move the washer last night just to get back there to work on it.

Thanks,
Marianne
