Wow thx for that insight. I had also purchased some living area pieces from World Market only to find similar thing happening, but a thicker veneer, before one year was up. I complained n tried to get to corporate but their resistance and my new busy child kept me from bothering. It is an embarrassment and shame that we are being sold sawdust as u say, which is just how ive come to see it at hobby lobby even. Frightening! Thanks for reinforcing I should find antiques for that reason.

How can this be repaired so that its attractive for resale or longer term keeping. Its a very deep brown. I just put scotch tape at present to prevent more peeling but that interferes withh closing drawers a little.
