On line reviews seem to leave something to be desired. LG machines are built in Korea, however the life of any machine is usually not based on age but usage. Both of the cases you mention sound on the surface like bearing or drive problems. There is one other off the wall possibility and that is low voltage, but this is so rare in most localities as to be hardly worth mentioning, and would in all probability be showing up in other areas of the home as well but it is worth a check anyway. Check the voltage at the machine receptacle when the machines are having their problems to be certain. Otherwise it might be either "call the service man" or "get your feet wet time." I'm personally a water baby get my feet wet type, but it has been known not to have been the least expensive way out at the moment. DIY and Cheap are not necessarily compatible nor meant to be used in the same sentence.
