Re: [DIY] hardi backer or ? or cement board over wood floor for Ceramic Tile

Yes - definitely. Also (from experience - two bathrooms and a kitchen) I learned you definitely want to make sure your floor is level. Especially if you are putting tile down. If you have any low spots, one step in just the right area and the tile will crack. Fixing it in the beginning is much easier than going back and trying to repair it after the damage is done.I used the 1/4" Hardibacker board.
Good luck with your project!

Subject: [DIY] hardi backer or ? or cement board over wood floor for Ceramic Tile

I just tore out the carpet- there is plywood on the floor- is a pier and beam foundation- at least that's what we called it when I was a kid-Should I use a 1/4 in cement board under the tile- over the plywood floor and use cement screws to secure it every 6 in? Please advise, I appreciate the info- ty ahead of time.D
