Re: [DIY] dampness odor

About the occasional gnat, google phorid fly and see if that's what it is. Really nasty. Do you have any drains, sinks, etc that are almost never used and that have possibly had their traps dry out from evaporation? Phorid flies can come from sewer or septic lines up thru an empty trap like that, as can an odor. Ed

Since I had it open I thought it a good idea to check all of it. No leaks, no visible mold, no mildew. Checked under all appliances and cabs, etc. no dead animals. The only other clue is that I see an occasional "gnat" flying through my home office which is located adjacent to the master bath. The master bath has no odor of mold, only in the living room which is about 18 feet away from the home office and bath. Also I have hot water heat so there are not any chases or vent work to analyze. And I do not see any leaks on the hot water heating pipes. I also have a new water meter that will show if there is a leak in the house, and it does not reflect any leaks. I am baffled. Please help.
