Re: [DIY] stationary mobile home - bathtub

I have a garden tub in mine, and love it.  There is a shower head there also.  I don't have a sep shower.
One other suggestion you had was to add in a shower & curtain, and actually, I think that would be your best option.
With your home being an older model, you start tearing out & rehabbing, you might find issues you don't want to deal with.  If you simply add in, it would probably simplify the project.

Good idea to contact the manufacturer. It's a Nashua 1985 model. I'll look into the manufacturer as soon as possible. I visited a mobile part supply store in town, and the gentleman told me that I have to be careful as to what's underneath the tub, because if water leaked the bottom could be rotted out. He also said the man he uses to install these things hurt his back, so that would hinder me I suppose. We're new in town and so it may be difficult for me to find people to do these things. Today I happened to meet a man who works for Bathfitters, even though I know it's expensive, I will check them out for the shower stall. Not the tub, which I might just leave there in case of resale. People like tubs. <g> The man from Bathfitters told me that they can put a new bottom and sides with handle bars, etc. in a day. He mentioned there were no doors, so I can't figure that out yet, unless I misunderstood him. We were just talking in passing as I happened to meet him in the breakfast room of the motel we're staying out and he was coming in for fittings of certain customers.

Some folks with fancy old tubs just add a shower rod
shaped like the tub and an upright pipe w a shower head.

Considered upscale. LOL!
The trailer mfr can tell you if that model had options for
tubs, and what's under yours, that makes you step up.

>Can I replace a "garden=type" tub in a mobile home with a shower? There is a shower that is like a real small cabinet and you have to step up to use it (about 12" off the ground). It's too small and difficult for me, but there is a tub type thing in the bathroom, it's called a garden tub, just kind of sits there in the middle of the bathroom with no shower capabilities. I don't take baths. I take showers. Last time I took a bath I thought my husband would have to call 911 to get me out of the tub. (My knees...) Wondering if I can replace the tub in the trailer (1986 model) with a walk-in shower. Thoughts, anyone?
