I would get a heavy drop cloth. You might be using the thin stuff that's better to cover things like furniture. If you think you'll be doing a lot of painting, investing in a cloth drop cloth, one that's about 9x12 would be helpful. I have one and I just use that one, moving it as I go along. It's big enough to use when I paint the ceiling, but small enough to be easy to drag to the next section.

Subject: [DIY] Prepping to paint
The downstairs bathroom in my 'rehab house' is just about ready to paint.
Spent most of today taping and covering those things which are not to be
painted, which leads to a question....
How the heck does one keep the drop cloth on the floor in place?
Plastic drop cloth. New drywall. No baseboards yet.
Tape it to the floor? Tape it to the wall in the area which will be
covered by the baseboards?
