I am unsure of everything. But I can tell you that I have not left the breaker on for longer than a minute. The pumps that I am used to at this location will destroy themselves quickly if they have no prime.

Most pumps are in the well, at bottom of the well pipe, so that the lift is a pressure lift, as a suction lift is much more sensitive to small pin-hole leaks. If the well is 100-400 feet down (or deeper?), it may take a few minutes to refill the pipe. If you left the breaker on, are you sure the water flow is not now restored?
