Subject: Re: [DIY] Stained bathtub
I used a weak solution of muriatic acid (about 1 cup acid to 1 gallon of water) ALWAYS add acid to water not the other way around. I covered the bottom of the tub and left to soak until the lime began to soften and then cleaned around the edges with a razor blade scraper just like cleaning paint off of glass. I needed to repeat the process several times to keep softening the lime but what we had thought was a tub with the porcelain worn down to the cast iron base was nothing more than 80 years of lime deposits.

Need help on a product that can clean the rust and lime build up on an old bathtub that has had a water drip for many many years. This is one of those cast iron bath tubs.
