[Attachment(s) from oakridgefarm@gmail.com included below] Can't speak to the type of materials, but we've moved shed type buildings on the farm a few times. In '86 we bought property half mile up the side of the mountain, with an older 60' mobile on it. We built a home to the front of the property then had to deal with the mobile. After a year I advertised it for sale and could not believe how easy and inexpensive it was to have it moved off the property. They used "forks" to lift it, put "rollers" underneath to move it around and when they had it in position, hooked it up and off they went.
Fast forward a few years, different property, had to get rid of an old moving van, wheels removed, that had been left on the property. We used our 4x4 truck, jacked up the van and slid long peeler cores (?) under it. As the truck moved forward a few feet four of us would move the logs from the back to the front and go forward again. Slow, but fairly easy (20 years younger). We had ordered a pre-fab 6-stall horse barn. Prepared the ground and had the foundation in before the barn arrived. The first truck brought the steel structure pieces that were set up and bolted together. Two days later the next truck brought the panels and the crew set it up. A beautiful horse barn, complete with paddocks, in just a few days. We took pictures of everything and glad we did, because four years later when we moved to MO, it just took a few days to take it apart, have it loaded onto a Yellow Freight Unit, shipped to MO and then rebuilt it on our farm here. The only problem was getting the ground leveled, and replacing a few bolts. We've done several things since then and always use the same concept - not different materials, just the way it's built. If you check out the website for modular homes, it's the same concept.
Can't get any of these shed-movers to call me back...
I'm about to build a 12x16 shed/cabin on skids that I may want to move off the property. Wonder how much I should worry about trying to use lighter weight materials other than sheetrock and T111, etc. ...
