Re: [DIY] Re: Fanlight Chain pull

There are 3 bulbs on the fan. The odd thing is, it was always "all 3 on" or "all 3 off". That is why it is odd that the switch requires 4 wires. I do not know much about electric.

Forget reattaching the chain.  How many sockets (bulbs) are on the light/fan?  How did it function before it broke?  Was it all on all off only or different combinations?  Is there possibly an internal light shinning out of the housing or upwards separate from the main light kit. I remember fans with that as well.

It is actually the chain switch. My son ripped out the chain. It must have broke inside the switch. I opened up the light fixture, and realized that the chain switch had a black, blue, white and yellow feed.

I just can't find any switch with 4 wires.

Now, I am wondering if I can open the switch and re-attach the chain. That may be a possibility.

Perhaps I can replace the light, if all else fails. Thats an idea.

If its just the light then replace it.  Thinking back on the 100 or ive installed.  There's only a black and white supply wire to thelight and maybe 4 screws holding it together.  Take it off and find one to your liking.  Lowes. Homedepot  Or eBay.

That's a good idea. We have a store like that. I'll go over the weekend and see if it yields any luck.

Frank,

Have you looked in your local area for a store that sells mostly ceiling fans and lights? Often this type of store will do repairs and offer the option to special order repair parts for DIY.
