The tile wall is not painted. I'm looking to paint it.
There are special primers and paints formulated for ceramic tile.On Thu, Feb 4, 2016 at 3:11 AM, 2scott@bellsouth.net [DoIt_Yourself] <DoIt_Yourself@yahoogroups.com> wrote:
Since the tile wall is already painted, you can treat this as any other painted wall. That is you
dont have to use grout to fill cracks and holes since you are going to be painting over thepatched areas again. IE. find a good putty that will stick to the material well. The big worry is what kind of paint is on the tile and whether it will serveas a good base for your nest top coat. If not then you will have to find a primer that will workwith the paint on the tile first and then apply the top coat. People use tile because it isa thousand times tougher than paint and it has to be totally beyond repair before anyonewould consider painting tile as painting is cheaper and faster than ripping out all the oldtile and replacing with new. If the tile is in good shape.... ( I dont care what the color )anyone that suggests that you paint over them for purposes of fashion....Shoot them between the eyes immediately.Same as anyone who ever suggests painting over exterior brick. In both cases youare taking a surface that will last a hundred years for no cost and replacing with a surfacegood for a few years at best and requires costly touch-up ongoing forever.
