I have a concrete patio on the north side of my house. It is covered by a shaded pergola in summer. The cover is off when it's cold out. Because of the shade the concrete now has patchy spots of mildew? on it. I also have a plastic sandbox on it for grandkids. Around the sandbox there is a dark ring of either dirt or I don't know what.
While roaming the aisles at Home Depot I recently bought Home Armor Instant Mold & Mildew Stain Remover. It's in a spray bottle. Well, I tried it and it did get the concrete a bit cleaner but dark spots still remain. Lots are about the size of a pencil eraser, many are larger.
Any advice short of using a pressure washer to get it clean? And once it's clean is there a sealer to be applied? Or wouldn't that help keep mildew off? The pergola has been up about five years. Before that I had no problem since it was sunny most of the time.
