The main thing over looked here are opinions and recommendations of appliance repair specialists.
No one elses opinion matters to me especially a bunch of users who are smitten with fancy
features and options..... Just more to break and go wrong and quadruple the repair cost
due to cost/difficult to obtain components and extra labor required because of undue complexity.
I dont really know as I have not checked but I suspect the mfgr who is most involved in commercial
activities (laundromats etc) are most tuned in to reliability and ease/cost of repair.
That would be Speed Queen as far as I know. Maybe other mfgrs have some commercial
models. Although the company has completely changed now, I did once (1978) buy a Maytag
washer that lasted 25 years with the last ten being in rental property. I was flabbergasted
by its reliability.
The big problem I suspect is much like with cars of today. Lots of computerized components
and circuit boards etc. They wont be available for very many years and their prices
are inflated enormously by the repair parts suppliers.
