Re: OT [DIY] Re: SPAM!

Sorry,

This discussion seems so inane. Why prolong it?  It is supposed to be a "do it yourself group" so therefore hit the delete key and be done with it.

Well, a small, but valid point.
SOME lists DO go to some pains to Remove Spam, and
all the followup posts about it. Prospective members do,
IMHO, often (30% ?) look at recent message mini's,
(as seen by NonMembers when they look at the Home Page,)
so see if it looks interesting. If they see Spam
discussion... well...

But that takes a lil time.
With "Members" blocked from view, I can't see nor guess
how much help Dale has, (nor desires.) I like a coowner
for ANY list worthwhile enough to save. A mod for every
100 members or 50-150 posts per month.

address, it is still potentially dangerous spam.

up on the board.

Many things come into play here, in terms of the personality
and edumacation of the owners/mods. Some err on the aside
of caution. Some attend to "appearance" of impropriety on
the list, knowing that some members will not be as calm and
adept at such stuff. And some say, buyer/user, beware, be
forearmed.

Maybe offer Dale some mod assistance...
I could help a little, if needed or desired. *I* think it
helps cover new members and their posts, in case of
3 day weekends and such. With more mods than are really
needed, there's less work and always coverage. (New members
are always anxious to see their 1st post in print. Or they
may have an "emergency."

But so far as I have seen, (in my very limited time here,)
help has not been requested. And the viewpoints seem to have
been posted. IF it's really important to anyone, they could
do a Poll, and see if public opinion bears out or brings a
change. Continued discussion may not assist further, very much.

Happy NonDeNominational HollyDayze-
and God Bless!
