I understand your frustration. And that is awful that such a company would charge a restocking fee. That being said, I am taking to hear the warnings given about buying a all-in-one washer/dryer unit refurbished and will look around when I get to PA. I think. Except here they sell used units with a warranty and I'd like to kind of have it when I get there. All this anxiety. but I am not refusing to get a good price at Sears for a dryer if that happens to be the case.
I suppose, because it was a gift, you did not have the receipt?

I would never buy anything from Sears again.
I returned a gift a few weeks ago and they charged me
a 15% restocking charge and then gave me the
money in the form of a Sears gift card.

No wonder the Sears stores are always empty.
