The wattage rating on a bulb does not ahve anything to do with light output. Watts are a unit of power consumption
and heat loss, Now when you compare a 60 and 100 watt incandencent light with all other things being the same. The 100 will
put out almost twice as much light. Lumens is the measurment of light output. the rule of thimb is that if you want the same
amount of light from a cfl as you got from a incandescent then go for 1/4 the wattage. so replace all the fanlights with 35 watt CFL
you should be good to go.
here is a page that goes into more detail. http://www.bulbamerica.com/wattage-lumens-brightness.html?gclid=COLoiKyphrUCFUOK4AodkUsAiQ

Hi, I found that some of the cheaper blubs will break like that.
its not fun. However, it pays to not put over size recommended. And buy brand name blubs.
I like light too, but the newer florencence blubs do put out better light and save money on electric.
Soon you won't be able to buy these other blubs.

The base seems to be corroded and does not easily unscrew. I've had to use needle nose pliers to take it out. That only works by twisting the base so much that it's really deformed from the pliers.
