I think that $149 is the list price at Lowes and many other places.  I don't know how many uses I'll get out of it but Dale is quite the salesmen and I had to jump on it when I saw it given all of his testimonials on this type of tool.

Don't know what the difference is, but ours is a Rockwell Sonic-Crafter Deluxe Pro Kit...$149, which is what I paid last year.  The one for $49 doesn't look much different.
