If you switch over to CFL or even better LED bulbs they make more light with a lot less heat than do incandescent bullbs.
I have gotten a lot of use out of the old style lights for my fish takns by changing out the biulbs.

You are living dangerous girl. I've seen several fires that were cause from wiring that had been baked, and have even seen the ceiling joist chard just from the heat of the bulbs being used.
