the walls are about 1/4" thick, so I don't think threading will work.

If the tank is thick enough I would try tapping the hold for a 3/8 pipe which has an OD of .675" and carefully threading either a piece of pipe or a pipe plug into the hole.

I cannot get to both sides. The hole is roughly 1/2"

Most tanks are made of a plastic that glues will not adhere to. Can you get to both sides, and how large is the hole?

I have a closed portable water tank that i need to replace the male fitting on. I am having a difficult time finding a local plastic welder. I have considered taking a male hose fitting and some how gluing it in place. The water stored in the tank is used to water horses.
What type of glue is recommended, or is there another way of repairing this tank?
