My problem is that I need the wire stapled inside the frame, sorry if I wasn't clear about that. Stapling it across the back means the wire lies flat against the wall leaving no room to attach items from the front. On Nov 11, 2013, at 9:20 AM, Bob Davis <bob@wrobertdavis.com> wrote:

Subject: [DIY] Help with hardware cloth
I want to make jewelry displays using picture frames and hardware cloth. I cannot figure out what to use to pull the hardware cloth taut and hold it. I started the usual way with a staple at each end - on the inside of the inside the frame - but when I tried to go around and pull it taut the staples pull out from the other side. Changed to heavy duty staples and quickly realized they came through the frame and splintered the wood. Repaired the frame and have googled this but as popular as it is I can't find anything that talks about how to get the hardware cloth taut. I need something like a fencing come-a-long to hold it. The commercial ones are very taut with silicone over the wire - but silicone by itself wouldn't be strong enough to hold it taut. Any suggestions??
