A light coat of grease (petroleum jelly works just fine) on the center slide may help the jerky action. Apply the grease in a short (1 foot or so) area of the slide bar where the slide itself will then pick it up and spread the grease for you, saves some of the mess. If it is a chain operated opener a spray coating of WD40 on the chain and if it begins to squeak shoot a little WD40 into the center roller bearing portion of each of the rollers. WD40 is not meant to be a long lasting lubricant but it is handy, easy to apply and for several weeks or months it does do the job.

When it opens it sounds a little jerky for the first foot or two. Any advice on if something should be done each year or just what to check now? Grease anyplace?
I live in Wisconsin so cold weather is on the way.
