I do that hose trick as well. However, I hover the roller portion in the middle of a bucket while I shoot-spin it with the hose so that the grass remains somewhat paint-free.
I don't remember if this was an official product or a DIY product. I remember seeing a video of someone attaching a roller to their drill and sticking it inside of some fashioned little drum or bucket. On Tue, Nov 12, 2013 at 8:35 PM, Jerry Hnidy <jhnidy@gmail.com> wrote:
I looked at the liner prices and it would cost less to buy a new tray. I can take a roller outside and using a garden hose make the roller spin very fast. But this won't work in the winter and makes a real mess of the lawn.

It's meant for you to use so that you wouldn't have to clean your tray as much.
It's really up to you if you don't want to use it. Many people find it helpful.
If there's a way to make rollers easy to keep clean ( without chemical thinners) someone could make money with that invention.

Subject: [DIY] Paint tray liner
What fresh hell is this? My newest roller tray came with a liner. What is that supposed to do? I can get the tray clean. It's the roller that drives me nuts. Why would I bother with thus liner?Google Jers Tablet
