We installed our radiant heating system in 1962...I wonder if there
were efficient/good tankless systems at that time? What a nice
combo of idea Dale!
We saw construction with electric heaters on top of the house slab..
beautiful sight before flooring went on
Why cannot I attach a pic here?? Help please!

One of the newer solutions has been to use tankless water heater with external water temperature control and a circulating pump. Far cheaper than a boiler and the recovery rate can be adjusted according to the weather conditions. The house thermostat controls the circulation pump.

Depends of course if you want a new floor or not,..but it might becheaper than insulating and utilizing a plastic vapor barrier and/orinsulation board in the crawl space..
Would love to hear your final solution,
Ours was to install 4' and 8' x 12" radiant hot water panels on the exterior walls anda boiler in the crawl space, copper pipe'd it all, expansion tank andsafety relief all in the crawl space accessible with hatch door. (ie, modernday radiators!!)...

Subject: [DIY] Radiant heating under WOOD floor
We can't live with forced air, wife has terrible allergies and I have asthma.
So I've finally decided to look into it seriously.
Since we walk on sub-floor built on 2x6 joists atop a crawl space, only option is to run the loops under the floors, and it is essential to cap the cavity with reflective foam sheets.
Now, here's my concern.Crawl space is always cold in the winter and I'm worried that any leak of warm air from the floor joists will condensate and wondering if anyone has looked into this problem.
Would hate to spend tons of money and end up ripping things down 2yrs down stream to clean out MOLD!
