I didn't know that. Citric acid is the also the active ingredient in barkeeper's friend.

actually, the active ingredient in dishwasher cleaner is citric acid. If you can find it, you can use it instead of the commercially produced brand names but I found it hard to find in granular form. Buying it under a commercial number was just easier.
