"Big dogs out, little dogs in" reminds me --
My relatives' dog (medium size) goes in and out freely through a dog door,
and the tall backyard fence protects the dog from the local coyotes.
The relatives would like to get a cat, and keep it indoors for protection
because it could climb the fence. Is there any way to let a dog out and
keep a smaller cat in, short of sealing the dog door and letting the dog
out manually?
An "open the door" tag on the dog's collar wouldn't work because a cat
could soon learn to go outside with the dog. A "close the door" tag on
the cat might work, if such a thing exists. However, keeping a collar
on a cat at all times may not be practical, which also pretty much rules
out an invisible fence.
Suggestions appreciated!
