[DIY] Re: Diagnose a COLD Room

I understood the intention of the tissue paper on the registers. It would be easy on a wall mounted register, and mine are in fact all in the ceilings. But I will give that a try. By attaching the tissue to the side of the register grill, the distribution veins should cause the air to flow directly against the tissue. I don't know if that will be a good indicator of air flow force, but will prove that the vent is open (we looked inside with flashlights to see if there were any visible blockages.)

One of my friends has an infra-red cooking thermometer. I'll ask if it would read low enough to spot cold spots or air leaks at the windows.

Can you think of any other tests besides HVAC? If I call the HVAC company, they will find a way to make the room warmer. But will they find the true cause of the problem? In the winter gas heat is not terribly expensive, but summer A/C can be expensive. So just pumping more heated/cooled air will make us comfortable, nut also raise the operating expenses too.
