Subject: Re: [DIY] Re: Diagnose a COLD Room
It must have something to do with either supply or return air flow. Maybe there is a disconnected or blocked return air duct in that room. Try to feel or use the aforementioned tissue paper to see any difference of air flow on both supply and return (with door closed) compared to registers in other rooms. Sounds like the wall insulation ratings is "to die for". 99.99999 percent perfect .
We borrowed a Thermal Leak Detector. It was interesting. We found that walls, floors, ceilings are all super insulated, and outside wall temps are only 1*F lower than inside walls. Found the temperature in the fireplace is not colder (no leaks in the damper fitting.)The temperature and air force from every register in every room was the same. The windows are aluminum and the metal registered colder. So did the window sill. The wall beside the windows was pretty close to the temp of the rest of the wall.
Not being a pro at this, I think we would benefit from thermal liners behind the drapes. But over all, the master bedroom is three degrees colder than the rest when the doors are left open. I haven't measured the drop when the doors are cold, but it is really a big difference.
So what do you think? Totally the windows? They are all the same throughout the house, yet only this room is a problem.
