Joy's post reminded me of the Tiny House movement I've been following. For various reasons I've been seriously considering building one to the side of our barn. Water/electricity/septic is all right there so seems like a fairly simple procedure. But when I got serious about looking for plans/costs etc they are spending a lot more than you see online. Does anyone have any real idea of the cost to build a single room home like this? Cabin like but livable, maybe A-Frame, around 400'. There are no building codes or restrictions in our county, so we can build what we want.
The Amish have what's called (?) forget the right word. They are very small houses where couples live when they get married, till they can afford their own farm. The youngest son, usually inherits the family farm and cares for the parents. When he marries, the parents move to the little house and the son and family live in the main house.
