Wanted a storm door on the front, since it's the one that takes the direct hit of winter storms. Beautiful view so wanted a full view, retractable screen (Larsen Tradewinds) as we have pets. Since it faces direct west it also gets full afternoon sun. Just read an article that storm doors are not recommended in areas that get full sun as the interior (between the glass) can heat too much and break the glass. Had never heard that, but never had a west facing house. I have Lowes, a contractor and a handyman coming next week to look at the door installation as well as the other work we need done, but I really need to be sure about what we want/need. Maybe just good screens doors would be OK and certainly cheaper. Any thoughts on west facing glass doors??
