1) The Disposal has a RESET button on the bottom, if that is the problem, usually a little RED button that you will hear/ feel click when you push it, (IF it was tripped). They are usually plugged in, so you could plug in a light and turn on wall switch to verify if you do/ do not have power to the unit. 2) There is usually a hole in the center of the bottom that you insert a HEX wrench tool into to turn the motor and clear a jam in the motor, where the jam caused the overload to trip. Personally, I like to staple a plastic bag to the cabinet side wall to store the tool and make it easy to find.
