Re: [DIY] Dryer Vent Cleaning

One quick tangential question to this -- the HVAC guy I mentioned in my previous post noted that he didn't think the vent was clogged (just a good idea to clean it), but that the connection from the dryer to the wall was leaking because 1) it was leaking heat 2) some of the paint had warped 3) lint was getting blown around.

I took a flashlight and looked behind the dryer and it's definitely like a layer of lint on the wall, the back of the dryer, the floor.

So the HVAC guy said that once our new dryer arrives in a few weeks and is installed, that should take care of the "leaking heat and blowing lint freaking everywhere" issue. Cleaning the vent was a separate "it wouldn't hurt" issue. Do you guys agree? If that's the case, I'm half thinking of just cleaning up the layer of lint when the new dryer arrives and then letting it be. I mean, the lint on the wall clearly is not getting into the vent to clog it up, LOL.

(Also, I should note that we're planning on selling/moving in like a year, so while we're doing maintenance/repairs right now in anticipation of that, we're also strategically abstaining from going the extra mile to save on cost.)
