> I have only one vent coming in from furnace for a cold
> room in winter.
Hi Tori;
There are a few questions that will help us to be able to
answer your question in a way that will be best for you.
Was this room part of the original house, or is it an addition?
How open is this room to the rest of the house? (what room)
> Its abot 300sqft.
How long and how well insulated are its exterior walls?
Describe the windows (size etc)?
How well is the ceiling insulated?
Where are you located? (for climate information)
What kind of floor, and its insulation?
Describe the fireplace?
(masonry, on exterior wall, zero clearance, etc)
Where is this room, in relationship to the furnace?
Are all the rest of the rooms heating evenly?
> I do not use the fireplace thats there.
As asked by someone else, is the damper closed?
> I have a baseboard heater rather not use for
> a toddler plays there.
You might be able to shield it with some basic sort of
child barrier I have friends who use a woodstove. It
is surrounded by child gates. Nobody gets burned.
What fuel do your furnace, and these baseboards use?
> I can put something in the fireplace.
What do you have in mind?

Hi Bill;
That would definitely solve the temperature issue,
but might burden them with much higher electric bills.
Budget is usually a big consideration. They would
likely be ahead to spend more on an efficient mini-
-split heat pump system, that would be 2-3 time
as efficient. But, if they have natural gas, then
improving the hot air circulation, may represent
their most elegant option.
