This is for any shelving diyers. I have been anxiously trying to get my cold back room organized as my childs play area. We set up a large melamine workstation- her height. Now I need to get wall shelves above these- to hold games, etc. Lightweight but sturdy. So after checking out craigslist for used/repurpose book cases, and the options of ready made avail at hardwares, Ive decided the best thing to do is custom.
Ive studied the rubbermaid closet systems at Lowes and HD. It seems that all these proprietary wall mount systems theyve created merely replace the diy "cleat" system. Ive spent so much time looking cuz I dont want them to fall on her and I dont want them to be overly bracketed and clunky. Its an airy yellow cottagy room.
So it will have two wall sections, why not just put cleats on those 2 sections and nail lightweight casing onto that? I originally thought of the easy brackets on both ends version with one long 4' shelf x 3, but then I considered an actual 10-12' deep custom casing that I can add vertical and horizontal inserts too. But Ive only seen such in finished picture not as DIYer job. Any ideas appreciated.
