I've used both CutList and CutMaster a few times.  CutList seems more simplified of the two.  I'd still like to find a better, free alternative as both don't seem as user-friendly as they could be.  I know at least one of those has inventory features as well.  You can plug in your entire materials listing along with pricing and stock amount.  When you create a cut sheet or product list, it will reduce your inventory and also come up with a summary sheet of what you used for that project and your total materials cost.   

CutList will allow for different cutting techniques.  For instance on a sheet good, you can toggle between cross-cuts and rips.  I think there is also a minimal waste selection.  Also, I remember that it even accounts for the kerf of your saw blade which you can input.

I'm looking for a better way to layout a cut sheet for a woodworking project. I have my materials list, but need to figure out what sizes wood I need to minimize waste. Drawing the layout by hand can get tedious and prone to arithmetic mistakes.

 

What do others use? I found a bunch of software online, but would like recommendations.
