Re: [DIY] Propane burners - Problem Solved

You may remember we had a gas cooktop converted to propane that didn't seem to be getting as hot as I thought it should.  Each burner had a different rating and I didn't know how to determine how many BTUs each burner was getting.  The fellow that installed it was here this morning for something else and I asked him to check it.  He went through everything, it all seemed to check out, but he kept fiddling with each part till he found the problem.

Since I'm not too technical here's The Reader's Digest version…….. a little knob had a short projection on the back which had to be turned from NG showing to LP — which he had done originally.  After fiddling around with it he found the problem.  Once LP was showing, the piece had to be pulled off and put back on upside down - which made the projection longer and put more pressure on the nipple (?) which produced more propane flow.  He put it back, turned the burners on and what a difference!  Adjusted each burner again and we have all the heat we need.  Now we'll have to be careful not to burn things :)
